Committee Elections

SCRUBS are inviting applications from all years to apply to be part of the committee for the academic year 2014-2015 and further the work that SCRUBS does at Nottingham.

 
During your time at medical school, you may have seen the work that SCRUBS has done to promote surgery, give you exposure to things our course may not cover and providing sessions that have helped you ace your exams. The SCRUBS calender includes many high quality events including weekly anatomy tutorials, mock anatomy spotter exams, the annual Careers Fayre, CP1 introductory and revision courses, finals Mock OSCES, suturing workshops, laparoscopic surgery skills, the annual Trauma Conference and many more.....
 
SCRUBS is one of the largest and most active societies in the medical school with an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated committee who aim to hold relevant events at the times when you need them most.
 
The SCRUBS team look beyond "polishing their CVs" and have joined SCRUBS to do genuine work that enhances the educational experience of medical students in our school.
 
At this stage, SCRUBS are only looking to fill the role of president, and the role of vice president, treasurer and head of academic cell (Yes that is a single role). Further elections will take place in the coming weeks. If you have a similar vision to us, have an interest in the field of surgery and have the passion to make a meaningful contribution to SCRUBS, please put forward an application for the presdient position as detailed below. Please note that candidates may only nominate themselves for the role of president. The role of vice president will be allocated to the canditate with the second highest number of votes.
 

In no more than 250 words, let us know what makes you most suitable for that role and what you can offer to the committee. THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION IS Monday 27th OCTOBER AT 13:00. Any applications received after this time will not be included. Your manifesto will be available for viewing at the hustings.

The new president and vice president shall be elected at a 'hustings' style event on Monday 27th October at 19:00, QMC B-floor rooms, using the single transferable vote system. Any member of SCRUBS is eligible to apply for any role, and attend and vote in the election.


President



-Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day running of the society
  • Oversees and holds ultimate responsibility for all activities of SCRUBS
  • Upholds the excellent national reputation of SCRUBS and ensures high standards are maintained across all activities
  • Ensures that all SCRUBS committee members fulfill their duties
  • Facilitates junior committee members to perform their duties effectively
  • Be present at and chair all committee meetings
  • Represents SCRUBS at a national level at relevant committee meetings
  • Encourages the development of the society to better the experience of SCRUBS members
  • Promotes a positive image of SCRUBS through effective leadership
  • Attendance at SCRUBS events when needed

Vice President, Treasurer and Head of Academic Cell

 

-Responsibilities

 

  • Deputises for the President in any and all roles as necessary
  • Supports the President in all decision making
  • Keeps an account of all income and expenditure throughout the year
  • Prepares a budget for the committee's time in office
  • Applies for the SU grant allocation
  • Oversees the running of the academic cell's activities
